by W.S. Gilbert & Sir Arthur Sullivan
With additional dialogue by Jonathan Cann and New musical arrangement by Phil Laybourn
showing from
Tuesday 9th October 2007 to Saturday 13th October 2007
This exciting production was first produced by the Haywards Heath Operatic Society. It moves the setting of The Mikado from the usual locations outside the house of KoKo onto the beach and brings the characters into the early 20th century, around the Art-Deco era.
Jonathan Cann has made some interesting modifications to the original libretto, with sometimes subtle cuts and additions, other larger rearrangement of scenes, the movement of one famous song back to its original location in a different act and a completely new scene before the infamous “Little List” song.
To accompany this, Phil Laybourn has rescored many of the musical numbers to suit a small band. Although restrictions within our theatre limit what we can do with regards to accompaniment, we hope the new scoring with be evident from our proficient accompanists. The schedule of Rehearsal, Audition and other dates are given via the Rehearsal link.
