Location

St Andrew’s Gilbert and Sullivan Society is based in St. Andrew’s United Reformed Church, West Monkseaton, Whitley Bay, Tyne and Wear, UK. We use the church hall for both rehearsals and for our main performance. The church itself is also used on occasion for other events such as concerts.

The church is located on Eastfield Avenue at the junction with Woodleigh Road. The following link to Streetmap.co.uk should take you there. Alternately, search on any good map website for Eastfield Avenue, Whitley Bay.

Public transport is available via regular bus services travelling along Front Street (just to the South East of Eastfield Avenue) and from the Metro system, with West Monkseaton Metro station being approximately 10 minutes walk away (on Earsdon Road, just North West of the junction with Brantwood Avenue.

On-street parking is available in the vicinity of the church, but please respect access to the driveways of local residents and ensure other road users can pass. Although a quiet residential area, neither the society nor the church can accept any liability for loss or damage to vehicles.

Wheelchair access is possible via the side entrance to the church in Woodleigh Road. Please contact us if you will need to make use of this or if you have any other special needs and we will do our best to accommodate them. The church is currently undertaking its “Building for the Future” project that will see a new fully accessible entrance foyer spanning the front of the hall and church. This will also provide much improved facilities for users of the church and hall. Financial activities are ongoing with view to start building work in 2008/9.
